The 2015-16 academic year was full of new projects and partnerships as we continue to expand arts outreach and engagement across the state and beyond. This past year we worked with the Iowa Arts Council's Arts Builds Communities pilot grant project with Villages Folk School in Van Buren County; for the first time, Dancers in Company focused their programming on the topic of water, using dance as a method to explore a number of related issues; we partnered with Any Given Child to provide dance experiences to every elementary school in the Iowa City Community School District; and we helped facilitate a high school theatre workshop and performance day for local high school students. Our programming would not be possible without the support of our university and Iowa communities.
Other highlights from the year include:
- Impacting 30 Iowa counties with our outreach and engagement efforts
- Coordinating over 300 events
- Engaging over 270 UI student, faculty, and staff artists
- Partnering with the Grant Wood Art Colony on the Summer Arts Camp
We are looking forward to see what the 2016-17 academic year will bring for our artists and the state.
